Tunji, who hails from the Erubu/Asunnara community of Balogun Fulani in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, allegedly died in detention at the state police command headquarters on Friday.
According to Daily Post, emerging reports indicated that Tunji owed a friend, whose brother is a police officer, a sum of N220,000, over which he was arrested by a team of police officers, including the creditor’s brother.
After his arrest, Tunji was taken to the Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) at the command headquarters in Ilorin on Friday.
“He was refused bail, and his parents had to leave the station very late on Friday, only for them to be called on Saturday morning to be informed that he had died in detention.”
