Deji Adeyanju, the human rights lawyer representing Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known in music circles as Speed Darlington or “AKPI, has informed that influential individuals are involved in prolonging the detention of his client.
The counsel who made the claim in a chat with The Cable Speed Darlington has not been released because police do not want to grant him administrative bail.
Adeyanju also stated that it is not a secret that a lot of high powers are interested in the matter, but he is making arrangements to seek a court bail at least. For his client.
He said, “The reason Speed Darlington has not been released is because police do not want to grant him administrative bail. We asked them for their reason, and they said he jumped bail the first time.
“It is not a secret that a lot of high powers are interested in the matter. And we are making arrangements to seek court bail at least. The dates that were given to us for him to be arraigned in court were the 14th and 15th of January next year,” Adeyanju added.
