Nollywood actress and movie producer Ruth Kadiri advises actors against getting pressured by producers who set unrealistic targets for views on a streaming platform.
In an Instagram post, Kadiri criticized the industry’s film producers for pressuring its actors to get one million views on YouTube videos on the first day of upload.
“Producers who demand one million views fail because a good production needs more than just the actors’ appearance,” she said.
In her words,
“DEAR NOLLYWOOD ACTORS!!!
TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR SHOULDER!!!
ANY PRODUCER WHO REQUIRES ONE MILLION VIEWS FROM YOU IN ONE DAY HAS FAILED! A GOOD PRODUCTION REQUIRES MORE THAN YOUR FACE!
ONE MILLION VIEWS IS NOT A STANDARD OF SUCCESS NOR!FAILURE
SO MUCH Y’ALL DONT KNOW
ABOUT YOUTUBE
DONT LET THIER IGNORANCE
RUB YOU OF YOUR JOY!
The ones who never invest in anyone are the ones with the most NONSENSE to say about others! 👀”
The producers who are eager to ridicule and put pressure on their colleagues are the ones who haven’t made any investments in actors.
Kadiri emphasized that actors shouldn’t allow their producers’ ignorance to limit their capacity to express themselves creatively on screen.
