The Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, on Friday, presented the N526.9 billion 2025 appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly for approval.
The governor, who christened the appropriation bill as “Transformation and Infrastructural Sustainability Budget,” highlighted plans to implement a new minimum wage of N70,000 for state workers from January 2025.
He thanked the state’s civil servants for their support for his administration.
Aliyu said the sum of N176.3 billion was earmarked for recurrent expenditure and N349.4 billion for capital expenditure in the budget.
He said: “This allocation reflects a focus on capital projects, which takes 66 percent of the total budget, while 34 percent is earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
“The key components of the recurrent expenditure include the new minimum wage for state workers, payment of pensions and gratuities for senior citizens, and the overhead costs of running government operations.
