Satellite internet company Starlink, owned by Elon Musk, has been subject to a cease-and-desist order by Namibia’s Communications Regulatory Authority for operating in the nation without a license.
Starlink has been accused by the Communications Regulation Authority of Namibia (CRAN) of providing services throughout the nation without obtaining regulatory approvals, and as a result, the public is not allowed to utilize its services.
The law in Namibia requires all telecommunications providers to receive a license from CRAN before they can operate within the nation. Starlink has applied for a license, but it is still being reviewed and has not been authorized.
In a statement, the CRAN revealed that the regulators had seized illicit Starlink terminals across the nation and had lodged a criminal complaint against the Namibian police.

“Following an investigation, CRAN has established that Starlink is operating a network within Namibia without the required telecommunications license,” CRAN said in a statement.
“On 26 November 2024, the Authority issued a cease-and-desist order to Starlink, instructing the company to immediately cease all operations in Namibia.”
‘‘The public is hereby advised not to purchase Starlink terminal equipment or subscribe to its services as such activities are illegal,’’ the CRAN warned in the statement.
