The Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded 90.08% of the results from the Ondo State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal.
Out of the 3,933 polling units where the election took place, results from 3,543 polling units have been made available online as of 6:22 pm on Saturday.
The key contenders in this election are Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress. Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party.
According to reports, the election witnessed a significant turnout of voters, and security was notably tight across the state.
In a notable incident, officials from the Department of State Services apprehended a suspected vote-buyer in Akure, Ondo State’s capital.
The suspect was found at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007, outside St. Stephen’s Primary School, with two bags of cash allegedly intended to influence voters.
Agboola Ajayi claimed victory in his own polling unit at Apoi Ward II, Unit 004, in Ese Odo Local Government Area, securing 194 votes against Aiyedatiwa’s 3 votes.
However, Ajayi voiced concerns over the election’s conduct, pointing to significant irregularities in the process.
Meanwhile, Aiyedatiwa expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Ondo State governorship election.
After casting his vote at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, in Ilaje Local Government Area, Aiyedatiwa described the process as “encouraging.”
He remarked, “It’s reassuring to see the exercise going smoothly here, and I hope this reflects the experience across the state.”
