A female student of Obafemi Awolowo University has been accused of assaulting an official of the institution by slapping them.
In a viral video seen on X, the student was confronted by some staff members of the university after she was said to have slapped one of their colleagues.
One of the staff members is heard talking to the student angrily, berating her for slapping someone ‘old enough to be her parent’.
The angry staff member said: “Get out of this place. Why did you slap her? What kind of nonsense is that? Don’t you have parents at home? What do you want to do.”

When contacted, the university’s spokesperson, Abiodun Olanrewaju told SaharaReporters that the student did not slap anyone as claimed by a staff member in the viral video.
The spokesman described the student as someone with mental ailment. According to him, the student refused to take her drugs as prescribed by the university’s health centre hence the commotion.
He said: “The girl in the picture is a part three student of the university. I was told she is not mentally stable and what happened was that the health centre was complaining she has not been using her drugs and that is what happened.
“The issue of her slapping our staff cannot be established, not true according to the Chief Security Officer,”
the spokesman added.
