Recall that a host of Nigerians received nominations for the 67th Academy Grammy Awards, which were announced by the event’s organizers in the United States on Friday.
Yemi Alade, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, and Ahmed Ololade, also known as Asake, will be leading the Nigerian cast of nominees to the event, which is scheduled for February 2, 2025, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
In addition, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (Wizkid), Lekan Osifeso (Lojay), Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu (Burna Boy), and Temilade Openiyi (Tems) were all nominated in the category of “Best African Music Performance.”

Following the news, Jaywon—who has previously been involved in a public spat with Ayra Starr—shared a picture of himself holding two Grammy awards, which many saw as a jab at her.
However, the musician has apologized for his behavior in a post on social media, saying that he believes Ayra Starr is one of Africa’s best female vocalists.
“If you see Ayra Starr, tell her I’m sorry she wasn’t nominated for this year’s Grammys. I’m a huge fan of her music, and I believe she’s one of the best female vocalists Africa has.
“On this side, we don’t pull people down. We elevate, not just for today, but for the future. Ola Inu Kan,” the singer wrote.
