Following their successful qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu has lauded his players.
Zubairu, who recently took over the team, commended their strong character after they secured a place in the final at the ongoing WAFU B U-20 Championship in Togo.
The defending champions started the competition with a 1-0 defeat against an already-eliminated Burkina Faso, but bounced back in their second game.
They have since secured victories against Cote d’Ivoire in the group and Niger Republic in the semi-final, to land a spot in the final.

The U-20 AFCON will be hosted in South Africa early next year, and the Flying Eagles will be featuring.
“I commend the boys, they showed real character to fight back and win the match, it was the same way they did against Cote d’Ivoire,” Zubairu said after their win.
“We were disappointed when we lost to Burkina Faso in our opening game, but we have since bounced back to top reckoning.”
Nigeria and Ghana will clash in the final of the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Lome on Wednesday.
