It was learnt that Ibrahim Rabiu was attacked at about 8 p.m. along the Federal Housing Estate in the Gbeganu area of Chanchaga Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, within Minna, the state capital, where he was stabbed twice in his stomach.
Some persons suspected to be hoodlums have attacked Ibrahim Rabiu Muti, the spokesman of the Niger State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), DSC while returning from work on Friday, October 25, 2024.
It was learnt that Ibrahim Rabiu was attacked at about 8 p.m. along the Federal Housing Estate in the Gbeganu area of Chanchaga Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, within Minna, the state capital, where he was stabbed twice in his stomach.
When contacted by phone, Muti confirmed the incident, explaining that nine criminals attacked him in a tricycle he was travelling in. According to him, two people pretending to be passengers had stopped the tricycle in the pretence that they were to board to a destination.
However, immediately the tricycle stopped the hoodlums emerged from the bush and took over the tricycle.
He further said he was stabbed with a knife, and his phone and other valuables were taken. While searching him, one of the hoodlums discovered his uniform trousers and alerted the others, saying, “He is a uniform man, he is a soldier,” and they abandoned him with injuries.
According to him, it was his uniform trousers that saved him, adding that the other passengers had already disembarked, leaving only him with the rider before the incident occurred.
He noted that the attackers were armed with knives, cutlasses, daggers, and sticks (Gora).
He has been discharged from the hospital and is responding to treatment.
