The newly deployed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, Remilekun Ekundayo, has pledged to ensure the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.
Ekundayo disclosed this at the handing-over ceremony held at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Friday.
According to a statement by the Ogun NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Dyke Ogonnaya, Remilekun took over from ACG David Idowu Ojelabi as the 12th substantive state Commandant.
Ogonnaya said, “Commandant Ekundayo, while receiving the instruments of office from the former State Commandant, ACG David Idowu Ojelabi PhD, mni, fspsp, thanked him for all his developmental strides, sense of discipline, dedication, and commitment to service while serving as the State Commandant in Ogun.
“Furthermore, she reiterated the essence of service and the true meaning of being an officer, especially one that follows the tenets of regimentation as laid down by the operational guidelines of the organisation.
“She stated that the Corps will not relent in its efforts to ensure adequate protection for critical national assets and infrastructure in and around the state while also protecting the lives and property of the citizens.”
Ogonnaya noted that the handing-over ceremony was preceded by the commissioning of a tactical base along the Interchange axis of the
Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway.
Ekundayo urged the deployed officers at the new base to use the facility to ensure security within the host community and its environs.
“Before the change of command ceremony, the former State Commandant and Commandant Ekundayo commissioned a tactical operational base at Interchange built by Mr Ifeanyi Imuseh, the owner of V-Peg Energy and Gas, as a Corporate Social Responsibility project for monitoring security in and around the area and its adjoining communities.
“During the unveiling of the plaque, which was done by the ACG, he called the attention of the officers posted to the facility to ensure adequate use of the CSR project for the betterment of all and to also extend their security watch and services to other communities around the facility,” Dyke stated.
