Dawari George, an ally of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), two years after he defected from the party.
Recall that George, who held the position of Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources during Amaechi’s administration, departed the APC in 2022 to join the Action Alliance party, under which he contested as a gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 elections.
It is noteworthy that in 2022 when questioned about his departure from the APC to the AA, the former House of Representatives member expressed to reporters that he was “hungry for service.”
Upon his return to the APC, George received a warm reception from the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, along with members of the National Working Committee at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
The former gubernatorial candidate did not make any statements to the media following his meeting with the party leadership.
However, the APC subsequently released a brief statement confirming his reintegration into the party.
The statement read, “Dr Dawari Ibietela George, the Rivers State 2023 election governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, has returned to the progressive family. He was received today by the National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and other members of the National Working Committee at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.”
