The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CBWASSCE) for private candidates will begin on October 25, 2024, and run until December 20, 2024. This information was provided in a statement issued by the examination body on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
According to WAEC spokesperson Adesina Fadekemi, the exam will be delivered using a hybrid format. This means that the multiple-choice or objective questions will be displayed on a computer screen, and candidates will provide their answers directly on-screen. However, for essay and practical sections, while the questions will also be displayed on-screen, candidates are required to write their responses in answer booklets that will be provided to them.
For those who prefer the traditional method, WAEC is offering the option to complete the entire exam using the Paper-and-Pen mode.
WAEC also announced that the registration deadline for the examination has been extended to Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Additionally, the Council highlighted the availability of a “Walk-in-Candidate” option, which allows candidates to register up to 24 hours before the exam for the specific subject they wish to take.
This new exam format aims to accommodate different preferences while ensuring the integrity and smooth delivery of the examination process.
