Malam Umar Namadi, the Jigawa State Governor, has suspended Auwalu Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties, pending an investigation into allegations by the Kano State Hisbah.
A statement sl by Malam Bala Ibrahim, Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State on Saturday, stated that the suspension was to allow for a thorough investigation to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the state administration.
The Nation reported the Kano State Hisbah Board had arrested Sankara in an uncompleted building with a married woman.
The board’s Director General, Dr Abba Sufi, confirmed Sankara’s arrest with the married woman on Friday evening.
The commissioner in a statement on Friday night, said Sankara denied the allegations, describing them as false, baseless, and malicious.
According to him, the arrest followed a complaint by Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, who accused the commissioner of engaging in an illicit affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba, the mother of his two children.
“Nasiru Bulama filed the complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services, and the Hisbah Board, alleging Sankara’s involvement in illicit sexual activities with his wife,” he added.
Sankara, however, claimed the accusations were a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image.
