Former presidential aspirant and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has applauded the Governors elected under the platform of the party for their intervention in the crisis rocking the national leadership of the PDP.
Momodu described the intervention of the Governors as a good start.
Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF) directed conflicting party members to return to their previous positions.
The chairman of the forum and governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, announced this following the governors’ meeting that concluded in the early morning of Tuesday.
Mohammed mentioned that as a political organization, the PDP was expected to face disagreements among its members, but he assured that these issues could be addressed and overcome.
Reacting during an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday, Momodu expressed optimism that the PDP can now focus on providing credible opposition in the country with the resolution of its internal crisis.
“I believe that it is a very good start. If you had asked me this same question, this time yesterday, my response would have been different, but I’m happy that, finally, the PDP Governors’ Forum is rising up to its responsibilities,” he said.
“A lot of Nigerians have been troubled, at a time where opposition is largely needed, we have been found wanting,” Momodu lamented.
He expressed delight that all suspensions have been lifted by the Governors.
“I’m happy that the governor has suspended all suspensions,” Momodu added.
