MTV has announced the nominations for the 2024 MTV EMAs, with African stars taking center stage, showcasing their incredible achievements over the past year.
Afrobeats sensations Ayra Starr and Tyla lead the pack among African acts, each securing four nominations. Ayra Starr is nominated for “Best New”, “Best Afrobeats”, “Best African Act”, and her captivating performances on MTV Push earned her a nod for “Best Push”.
South African star Tyla, earning her first-ever MTV EMA nominations, is recognized in the categories of “Best New”, “Best Afrobeats”, “Best R&B”, and “Best African Act”.
Other African heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, and Tems have also been nominated in the “Best Afrobeats” category.

Additionally, Asake, Diamond Platnumz, DBN, Gogo, TitoM & Yuppe Gogo have secured nominations in the “Best African Act” regional category.
