Photos of Charniel Amanzie Moses, the police officer who is accused of fatally stabbing a resident of Kaduna, Adekunle Oduwole, have surfaced.
On Facebook, Moses describes himself as a singer, poet/song writer, importation coach and procurement agent.
SaharaReporters reports that Inspector Moses allegedly killed Oduwole. A family source who spoke with SaharaReporters had accused the police officer of stabbing Oduwole to death on September 22, 2024 between 10:50 pm and 11:00 pm at J11 Lounge, Kaduna.
According to the family source, on the said date, Inspector Moses entered J11 Lounge, Kaduna, to search for a woman he claimed to be his girlfriend, whom he later found and assaulted.
It was learnt that in a desperate bid for safety, Inspector Moses’s alleged girlfriend sought refuge with Oduwole, who was nearby in the lounge, and begged for assistance.
As Oduwole attempted to shield her from harm, Inspector Moses reportedly made unsubstantiated accusations, claiming Oduwole was involved with his girlfriend.
Without provocation, Inspector Moses then allegedly violently stabbed Oduwole, resulting in his tragic and untimely death.
The family source said Oduwole quickly got on a commercial motorcycle and rushed to Sabon Tasha General Hospital but could not be treated as the health workers on the ground told him that they were on strike.
The family source said, “When the officer used the jack knife to stab him (Oduwole), he took himself to the General Hospital, Sabon, where they told him they were on strike and then he told the ‘bike man’ to take him to St. Gerald Hospital. It was when he got to the gate and wanted to enter that he died.”
Meanwhile, the family source told SaharaReporters that witnesses including a Suya seller said the officer’s alleged girlfriend had declined an invitation to hang out with the officer when he called her earlier in the evening, only for him to find her at the lounge.
The source said the police officer was serving in FCT, Abuja but had travelled to Kaduna for the weekend where he asked the lady out.
Meanwhile, the family in a petition addressed to the Kaduna State Commissioner for Police, through their lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, had demanded that “all necessary legal measures be taken against Inspector Moses to ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law”.
The family also called on the state police command to maintain full transparency and cooperate fully with them throughout the investigation process.
However, when contacted for comments, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, told SaharaReporters that he would “investigate and get back” to our reporter.
Speaking to SaharaReporters during the weekend, a police source confirmed the arrest of the Inspector.
“Yes, he is a serving officer and already in custody. The police are done with investigation and the deceased family should bring their lawyer to charge him to court,” he told SaharaReporters on Sunday.
