Intelligence sources informed a counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama that the violence erupted around 3:30am when insurgents stormed the town, indiscriminately firing explosives.
The attack saw two vehicles belonging to Nigerian Customs officials set ablaze.
Adding to the devastation, the attackers targeted the grave of a local resident, Khalifah Ayiloma, in Kolori Ward, setting the gravesite on fire.
The insurgents also raided the home of Dahiru Muhammadu, a 60-year-old night watchman stationed across from Geidam Polytechnic.
He sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was rushed to Geidam Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
