The Libya National Team reconvened on Monday to begin preparation for their October 11, 2025, Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Nigeria at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to Libya Al-Ahrar Channel, the Mediterranean Knights had their first training under the leadership of their new coach, Nasser Al-Hadhiri and his assistants, Tunisian Akram Al-Hammami and Aboubaker Harak, in Tripoli.
The team is expected to arrive in Abuja on October 7 before heading for Uyo for the clash with the Super Eagles.
Meanwhile, Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen has yet to name his squad for the doubleheader, with the corresponding slated for October 15 at Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi.
Nigeria made a bright start to the series with a heartwarming 3-0 win over Benin Republic on September 7 before battling Rwanda to a goalless draw in Kigali three days later, setting them atop Group D with four points.
Libya bring up the rear with one point secured in their opening day’s 1-1 draw against Rwanda at Martyrs of February Stadium on September 4 in Benghazi before being edged 2-1 away to Benin Republic six days later at their adopted home ground, Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
The Cheetarhs of Benin are second with three points, followed by Rwanda with two points.
