A former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has described the reinstatement of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, as one of the most significant moments of his life.
El-Rufai made this remark on Wednesday in Kano at the Arewa Tech Fest, a gathering of political and technology leaders aimed at discussing advancements in Northern Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, the former governor expressed his deep appreciation for Sanusi’s return to the throne, which he said was a personal victory for him. “The reinstatement of His Highness is one of the most important events in my life, and I want to congratulate you once again,” El-Rufai stated.
The fest was attended by key figures, including the Governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, the Governor of Katsina, Dr. Dikko Radda, and the Governor of Zamfara, Dr. Dauda Lawal.
Sanusi, who was controversially dethroned in 2020 by the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has since been the subject of public debate, with opinions divided over the decision.
For El-Rufai, however, the reinstatement marks a moment of vindication and a renewal of Northern Nigeria’s traditional leadership.
“This reinstatement marks a moment of vindication and renewal for Northern Nigeria’s traditional leadership,” he added.
