A woman has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of her two daughters, aged 12 and 9, in Kenya.
The bodies of the two girls were discovered buried in a shallow grave in Nyatembe Village, Chemagel location, Sotik Sub-county, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Chemagel location chief, Lenny Kirui, confirmed that the two girls had been missing for a week, as reported by a family member.
After a thorough search, neighbours became suspicious when they found a makeshift grave in a nearby tea farm.
The area manager visited the children’s school, where it was revealed that they had not attended for the past four days.
This prompted him to report the case to Chebongi Assistant Chief, who alerted Sotik police officers. The police secured the scene, and upon exhuming the grave, the decomposing bodies of the two girls were discovered.
The bodies have since been taken to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary for autopsy by homicide officers from Bomet County.
Police are also searching for the woman’s lover, the prime suspect, who reportedly fled after the crime.
