Four suspected members of the Aye Confraternity terrorizing residents of the Ijoko area of Sango-Ota and its environs, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.
The arrested suspects, identified as Olanide Balogun, Olamilekan Oyedele, Adeolu Olayinka and Abdulganiyu Azeez, were apprehended around 3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday.
“The police received a tip that the suspects had been spotted in specific areas of Ijoko. The Divisional Police Officer of Sango-Ota led a team to raid the location. Upon seeing the police operatives, the suspects scattered in different directions,” she stated.
“The DPO immediately pursued the criminals, catching up with one of them. The others were later apprehended with the help of the first suspect, who had been arrested.
“Their method of operation involves breaking car windows and attacking innocent road users during traffic jams.”
She added that the suspect will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for additional investigation.
