A 30-year-old man, Usaini Magaji, has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command over the alleged r@pe of a 7-year-old in Kaugama Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the Corps in the state, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, said the suspect accosted the minor while she was trying to ease herself at a nearby farm.
According to Mahmud, the suspect s3xually assaulted the victim and threatened to slit her throat with a knife if she told anyone.
“One Usaini Magaji (M), aged 30, of Katau Dawa Village, Kaugama LGA was arrested by the operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command on Sunday, 8th day of September, 2024 at approximately 1045hrs on a suspected r@pe case of a Seven (7) year-old girl of the same address,” the statement read.
“The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the NSCDC Divisional office by the father of the victim who reported that his wife (mother of the victim) called his attention while he was at work to informed him that his daughter came back home crying and bleeding from her private area when she went out to ease herself in a nearby area.
“Upon hearing that, he said he left what he was doing at the moment and rushed back home where he interrogated his daughter who told him that it was Usaini that took advantage of her while she was trying to ease herself at a nearby farm and threatened to cut her throat with a knife if she ever revealed anything to anyone.
“Upon his arrest and subsequent interrogation, the suspect confessed to have put his manhood into the private part of the young girl and had canal knowledge of her to satisfy his s3xual desire.
“Medical examinations conducted on the victim at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Dutse General Hospital indicate recent penetration, breakage of hymen and bruises around the v@ginal area.
“The suspect will be charged to court of competent jurisdiction after all investigations were concluded.”
