The Chicago Bears and rookie quarterback Caleb Williams are expected to have reliable target Keenan Allen at their disposal in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. Allen has been practicing in a limited capacity for most of the week, but did practice in full on Friday.
Head coach Matt Eberflus noted to the media that the outlook for Allen was good for Sunday against the Titans. Eberflus said that he expected the veteran wide receiver to play which means that the Bears offense will have everybody available.
What Keenan Allen injury means for fantasy football
With Allen expected to play, fantasy football owners should go into Week 1 with the same mindset that they’ve had all offseason. DJ Moore is likely the number one wide receiver in the offense with Allen a very solid WR2 and reliable target for Williams. The question mark will be how much rookie Rome Odunze is involved. Had Allen not played, that would have meant more involvement for the rookie. However, with Allen expected to play, him and Odunze will be competing for targets.
For Caleb Williams, the rookie will be glad to have a player like Allen available. The Bears traded for Allen with the mindset of setting the number one overall pick up for success in year one. With Moore, Allen, and Odunze, this could be one of the more exciting offenses in the NFL. Allen ranked 11th last year in first downs per route run in 2023. He will likely be someone that Williams looks for on third downs and in important moments.
