Popular Kannywood singer, Ali Isa Jita, has dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, which indicated that Ali Jita announced his defection to APC when he paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy President of the Senate at his residence in Abuja on Thursday.
Receiving the singer, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin described Jita’s defection to APC as a welcome development.
“As a young and talented artist, Ali Jita will bring his wealth of experience and expertise to the party, which will pave the way for the development of the music and the entire Kennywood industry. I welcome you to the largest party. You are welcome on board,” the lawmaker said.
Ali Jita, who is also the chairman of the Kano Singers Association known as Murya Daya, described Senator Barau as a father figure.
“I was dragged to the Kwankwasiyya Movement by its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. But today, I have dropped my red cap; I am no longer in the red cap movement. I am now a full-fledged member of the APC,” he said.
He assured APC that he would use his ability and talent to contribute to the party’s journey.
