Machipisa, who is known locally as Mabhutsu, reportedly went to the home of Nomsa Sengwe, 32, a hairdresser, searching for her after she had spent the night with a new partner.
A tragic incident occurred in Zengeza, Zimbabwe, yesterday when a 32-year-old man, Simbarashe Ashton Machipisa, allegedly killed his ex-partner’s two-year-old son, Truth Maphosa, in a fit of rage.
Machipisa, who is known locally as Mabhutsu, reportedly went to the home of Nomsa Sengwe, 32, a hairdresser, searching for her after she had spent the night with a new partner. Sengwe had recently ended their relationship due to Machipisa’s v!olent behavior.
Upon finding Sengwe absent, Machipisa allegedly strangled Truth and then threw the child against a wall, in full view of Sengwe’s other five children, aged between four and fifteen. The horrifying scene prompted the children to cry out, alerting neighbours to the emergency.
One neighbour intervened, restraining Machipisa with a chain before police arrived at the scene. The suspect was reportedly be@ten by local residents before being taken into custody. Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed Machipisa’s arrest and subsequent detention at St Mary’s Police Station.
In a tearful statement to H-Metro, Sengwe expressed her profound regret over her past relationship with Machipisa. She revealed that Machipisa’s jealousy and violent tendencies had become unbearable, leading her to seek an amicable separation.
Sengwe described disturbing incidents of abuse, including being assaulted and publicly humiliated by Machipisa, as well as his destructive outbursts, such as burning her belongings and stalking her new partner.
Sengwe disclosed that she had decided to spend the night with her new lover, which left her children unsupervised and vulnerable. The heart-wrenching outcome was the tragic d3ath of her young son.
