Bandits on Wednesday abducted 10 people in the Moriki community, Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State.
A resident of the community confirmed the incident on the BBC Hausa Service on Thursday.
He said: “The bandits claimed that their cows were killed by the commander in the community. They attacked the community and went from house to house picking our people. They gave today as the deadline for us to pay a ransom of N50 million.
” Not long ago, they collected N20 million from community members to allow the locals access to their farms. The community is not secured at all.”
