Guerschon Yabusele was the breakout player in men’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The forward was France’s second-leading scorer behind Victor Wembanyama, and showcased all the ways in which his game has grown since the Boston Celtics selected him with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Yabusele had been out of the NBA since 2019, but he was so impressive in the Olympics that the Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly signing him to a deal.
Yabusele authored one of the most memorable moments of the Olympics when he dunked on LeBron James in the gold medal game between the USA and France. While Stephen Curry’s absurd three-point explosion minutes later secured the U.S. victory, Yabusele’s poster on one of the game’s all-time greats was just another reason was the gold medal match was an instant classic.
Someone recreated Yabusele’s dunk on LeBron in NBA 2K, and it’s so cool to see in a video game. Watch the clip here:
The clip comes from thecobra26 on Instagram, and includes a few other angles. Well done.
One thing the 2K modders got wrong? LeBron was actually outside of the restricted area, and didn’t jump. The Team USA star was trying to take a charge, but he was still moving when Yabusele went up for the dunk. Here’s a clip of the real play:
We can’t wait to watch Yabusele back in the NBA this season. The Sixers are loaded, and now they have the Dancing Bear on their side.
