Nemis Usman, a fifty-year-old woman, has been reportedly killed by a hit and run driver in Taraba State.
The woman, who was participating in ‘Operation Keep Taraba Clean’, was crushed to death by the yet to be identified driver in the Jalingo metropolis.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday along Yola Road near Mile Six, in Nobis Junction.
Officials at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Jalingo, who spoke with Daily Post, said the woman died before she was rushed to the hospital.
At the time of filing this report, her remains have been evacuated to the hospital morgue.
Investigation to identify the driver responsible for the hit-and-run accident is presently ongoing, according to Police sources.
Some of the deceased’s colleagues who spoke with Daily Post said the woman was hit by the driver when she was busy carrying out her assigned responsibilities on the highway.
Confirming the incident, the coordinator of Operation Keep Taraba Clean, Iliya Kefas, said efforts to track down the driver are in top gear.
Also confirming the incident, the spokesperson of Taraba State Police Command, Gambo Kwache, said the Police are working round the clock to bring the perpetrator to book.
The accident comes a few hours after four women reportedly drowned in a boat mishap that occurred in Ardo-Kola LGA of the state.
