Some bandits have kidnapped the wife and two sons of the Village Chief of Galadimawa in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Aliyu Galadimawa.
The attack occurred on Monday night at around 11.30 pm when the bandits, who arrived in large numbers, fired shots to terrorise the community before breaking into the village head’s residence.
The abducted victims are the wife of the village chief, Fatima Aliyu, and their sons — Abdullahi and Kamal.
The Sarkin Fadar Galadimawa, Hussaini Umar, confirmed the incident on Wednesday and expressed concern about the inadequate security in the area.
“Our security here is inadequate. We desperately need help,” he said, urging the state government to strengthen security in the area.
Umar criticised the current Mobile Police unit as insufficient, stating that the frequent abductions and violence have taken a heavy toll on the community.
“Around 20 neighbouring villages have relocated to Galadimawa due to the insecurity,” he added.
The Kaduna State Police Command has not issued a statement on the incident, and efforts to reach the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful as a call put to his phone number indicated that it was unreachable.
In June 2024, no fewer than six persons were killed while several others were kidnapped when some bandits invaded the Bauda and Chibiya communities in Maro Ward, Kajuru LG of the state.
It was gathered that the rampaging bandits stormed the villages and unleashed terror, killing the non-suspecting residents while they razed some houses.
The LG Chairman, Ibrahim Gajere, who confirmed the incident in a statement obtained by PUNCH Online, said the bandits rode on motorcycles fully armed with sophisticated weapons.
