Gov Abba Yusuf of Kano State has dismissed reports that he awarded contracts to one Musa Garba Kwankwaso, who is said to be a brother to the 2023 presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Kwankwaso who at different times was defence minister and a senator was twice governor of the Kano State.
He is instrumental to Yusuf’s emergence as Kano governor and is often reportedly dishing out orders to the governor since his inauguration in 2023.
A Nigerian-US-born filmmaker and content creator, Bello Galadanchi, had claimed that the state government directed all 44 Local Government Councils to pay ₦10 million each for the supply of drugs to one company called Novomed, owned by Musa Garba Kwankwaso.
However, Yusuf denied the allegation and subsequently directed the state Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission (PCACC) to investigate the alleged contract award.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner of Information Baba Halilu Dantiye and Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
“The Governor therefore directed the Executive Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to immediately investigate the allegation and report the outcome for further necessary action.
“Gov Yusuf also urged the good people of Kano State to exercise patience pending the outcome of the investigation
,” the statement said.
