But his efforts against Mallorca all proved abortive as his shots were mostly stopped by the home goalkeeper.
Rodrygo curled home a fine opener from Vinicius Junior’s backheel to give Carlo Ancelotti’s side the lead.
But Vedat Muriqi equalised with a header from Dani Rodriguez’s cross, and the hosts held on to secure the one point from the encounter against the champions.
Madrid ended the game with 10 men as defender Ferland Mendy was sent off deep into injury time for a lunge on goalscorer Muriqi.
