President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Eagle Square in Abuja, signalling the commencement of the maiden June 12 democracy day celebration in Nigeria.
Naija News understands the President arrived at the venue around 10:15 am.
Earlier, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, service chiefs, acting chief justice of Nigeria and many other political leaders, captains of industry and traditional rulers had arrived at the venue of the celebration.
Nigeria usually celebrates democracy day on May 29 but this changed after President Buhari signed into law the June 12 date in honour of the annulled June 12 presidential election which is widely believed to be Nigeria’s freest and fairest election so far.
