UECR @ 55

1964 – 2019

In 1963, three concerned Brothers in the Lord: Andrew Philip Ekang, Sunday Joseph Udoukpong and Nnah Johnson of late memories met, fasted and prayed to God fervently for direction to establish QUA IBOE CHURCH MISSION in Rivers State.

What now known as UNITED EVANGELICAL RUMUOMASI aka UECR started officially with as a fellowship on February 19, 1964 at #25 Fleming Avenue Rumuomasi at the resident of Bro A.I Akwang.

In the same year, 1964, the first Communion service was held for the fellowship with 22 Communicants in attendance as Rev W.J Kelly and Rev C.A Umobong conducted the Communion service.

Same year, Rev C.A Umobong also conducted the first and historically wedding in the church. Wedding of the duo founding brothers : Bro Akwang Isaiah Akwang & Sis Naomi Oko Udo Akpan and Bro Andrew Philip Ekang & Sis. Philomena Umoren Iwok.

On 27th November 1964, the last Friday of the month, as like the apostles of old on the day of Pentecost, The prayer meeting was historically memorable, as it witnessed the descendant of Holy Spirit where one of the congregation spoke in tongues.

In 1965, one year of worshipping as a church, Four (4) Plots of land was purchased for use as the church permanent site where we now have as 42 Arochukwu Street Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt.

55 years later, the fellowship started by three brethren has grown and expanded greatly producing about 43 Church Branches within Rivers/Bayelsa Field, 3 Superintendencies and One Autonomous District in Bonny.

The three brethren fellowship now has over 10,000 worshippers as members within Rivers/Bayelsa Field of operation.

In all over the years the church of God, UNITED EVANGELICAL CHURCH RUMUOMASI has had her own share of setbacks and challenges as a religious organization, but like Jesus Christ has assured to Build His church and the Gates of hell would not prevail Matt. 16:18.
